Other beaches
The north eastern beaches of Skiathos are among the least visited. Xanemos is close to Skiathos Town but can be very windy. Further west is Megas Gialos, notable for its dark sand. The unique Lalaria beach, with smooth grey pebbles and a rock arch, is only accessible by private boat or on island tours. The uninhabited Tsougria island also has a couple of beaches. The main beach is sheltered, with shallow water and is a good place for swimming and snorkelling. The other, smaller beach can only be accessed by private boat or by walking across the island. It is said that the Beatles once unsuccessfully tried to buy Tsougria as a location for a recording studio.
Of course, many other beaches exist on Skiathos that I have not covered, so take the opportunity to find some hidden gems for yourself.
