Vassilias & Achliades (Bus stop 7, 8, 10)
There are plenty more beaches than the ones close to Skiathos Town:
Next up as you travel east along the road are the Vassilias beaches (Blue Flag). LIttle Vassilias (bus stop 7) is the quieter of the two, a pretty beach with pine trees shading its eastern end. There is a watersports hut but the beach remains relatively undeveloped, and is my preference of the two Vasilias beaches. Big Vasillias, just along the coast (bus stop 8) is, as the name suggests, larger, but dense with sunbeds. Watersports are also available here.
A little further along is Achliades (Blue Flag, bus stop 10). It is served by water taxis from Skiathos Town. It is a large, popular beach with a nucleus of hotels, villas, tavernas, and small supermarkets above it.
But while there is nothing particularly wrong with Achliades (and it is safe, with watersports, plenty of sand and facilities, and views of Tsougria), I don’t find it has anything to particularly make it stand out. I’d therefore file it with Troulos and Agia Paraskevi (see below) in the category of bland, slightly non-descript beaches that I wouldn’t make any particular effort to visit.
The pick of the tavernas/beach bars is the shady and pleasant Mamiatis Garden, which is attached to studio accommodation.
