Skiathos Dog Shelter
Skiathos Dog Shelter, near to Kounistra monastery, was set up in 1995 to address the problem of stray dogs. You can visit the shelter to walk the dogs (see ‘Skiathos secrets’ above). Only dogs are officially taken in, but stray cats are also fed. All dogs are eventually rehomed – to England, Scandinavia and Germany among other places.
