Hire car, motorbike.. or pony?
However, unless you are a very keen walker you may well want to hire a car or motorbike at some stage. A large number of places where you can do this are on the new port waterfront. In high season you can hire a small car for a day for 40 Euros, and a 4 x 4 for about 60 Euros. A motorbike is 20-25 Euros and an ATV approximately 35 Euros. To fill the tank of a small car with petrol costs about 40 Euros. Some of the roads are dirt, so a four wheel drive is ideal, but many people also drive small cars on them. Bicycles can be hired cheaply from some places (5-10 Euros per day).
A more unusual way to travel is to go on a pony trek (30 – 45 Euros). These are organised by Skiathos Riding Centre, which is inland from Koukounaries beach (nearest bus stop 25).
